A lot of people seem irked by the visual style but I actually like it- they look like old mugs from 80’s and 90’s graffiti. It’s a little confusing remembering a Metroidvania-style layout without a visual map, but the more I explore and backtrack, the more stats I earn, so I’m cool. The cool part is that just a little bit of grind can really make you comfortable without making you OP. It definitely got the feel of Dark Souls down pat- from satisfying, thoughtful combat to the occasional cheap death, and some fairly out-of-nowhere smaller enemies that just slice the shit out of you if you aren’t ready.
